bug 668901 gives developers a screen to manually verify an addon for compatibility with an app/version. However, currently the developer can select any app and any version which may yield a passing result even though no compatibility tests were run. Instead, the developer should only be able to select app/versions that have compatibility tests associated with them.

There's no central listing of compatibility tests. The JS tests, for instance, are inlined in the JS inspection code. It's safe to assume that any version of Firefox newer than 4 has compatibility tests and every produced version of Thunderbird from around that time has compatibility tests. Unless developers targeting Firefox 3.6 and below (heh) consider this a stumbling block, I'd say that this is WONTFIX.
