Let's be sure to take bug 467345 into account while building this. The reporter provided some very good feedback regarding diffs, and the community seemed to support him. His bug received more votes than almost any other filed against the MDN.

Sheppy had some feedback on this in his user interview last week.

Sheppy explained that his biggest problem with Deki is the way they do revision comparison. He noted that they have never gotten revision comparison right and that the user experience of the current tool is very bad. Sheppy noted that the revision comparison tool in MediaWiki is much nicer than the one provided by Deki. Sheppy recommended that we do a lot of work on this to get it right.

Interestingly, Sheppy pointed to Deki's use of HTML as being one possible reason for the revision control tool being so bad, as rendered HTML is more difficult to compare than Markdown. I wonder how this thought crossed his mind -- ideally, the interface would make this reality invisible.

That's a start. It would be nice if we could switch between seeing the underlying markup and the rendered content for both versions, but comparing the markup is a good place to start.
