User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_8) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/12.0.742.122 Safari/534.30 Steps to reproduce: In a Firefox 5.0.1 window I opened about 36 different sites each in it's own tab using the open all in tabs command on a bookmarks folder displayed in the bookmarks toolbar. Note, sometimes I have to open a new window and open all in tabs again to reproduce the problem. I will attach the set of bookmarks that I opened. Actual results: After doing this I opened the bookmarks manager window and the display was blank (no bookmarks are displayed). Expected results: Bookmarks should have been displayed.

can you reproduce in safe mode? support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode an add-on may easily break that indeed.

I was able to reproduce this bug after I created a new profile, connected to my sync account and downloaded all my bookmarks from sync. Once the bookmarks were downloaded I - opened the 36 sites in tabs - opened the bookmarks manager window which showed bookmarks normally then I closed it - opened a new firefox window and opened the 36 sites in tabs again - open the bookmarks manager window again and it was blank. By blank I mean it looked like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50842493@N00/5938191400/

Pretty strange, may be due to bad data in your sync account. May I get by mail (since it's personal data) your places.sqlite file from the new clean profile, after the Sync, since this is the second strange case I see like this...

I'm mulling over giving you my places.sqlite file. In the meantime I'm thinking about trying to fix this issue by: - creating a new profile for firefox 5 - Exporting my existing bookmarks as HTML from firefox 3 - Importing those bookmarks into firefox 5 - creating a new sync account for the new profile and uploading the newly imported bookmarks - on my other instances of firefox, modify the sync setup to access that new sync account and replace the local bookmarks with those on the sync server Does this sound reasonable? Also, any suggestions for how I can import my existing passwords DB into the new firefox 5 profile?

I figured out how to log in to my sync account via the web interface and purge all my sync data. I then enabled sync on ff5 and reset the sync server with all my local data. Once I did that and restarted ff5 I was able to recreate the bug. There is a problem with sync I think and ff5 (I saw the same thing on ff4). Note that I am not able to recreate this bug using ff 3.6.18 when sync was enabled but that does not have sync built in (it's an add-on). Note, I have not been able to recreate this bug when sync was not enabled.
Does the issue still occurs if you trie this on an empty testing profile but don't import anything...just try from scratch. Thx

(In reply to comment #8) > Does the issue still occurs if you trie this on an empty testing profile but > don't import anything...just try from scratch. > Thx I created a new profile. I did not import bookmarks but I did a copy of a set of bookmarks from Safari and I pasted those into a bookmark tools folder in ff5. I then did a "open all in tabs" on the bookmarks toolbar folder 6 times (each time in a new window) and was not able to recreate the problem. I then enabled Sync on that ff5 session, configured sync to just sync passwords and bookmarks and set it to replace all the data in my sync account with the local data and performed the sync. Afterwards I opened a new ff5 window and did another open all in tabs and after that I opened the bookmarks manager window at which point it was blank (nothing was showing in the window). I suggest someone else do exactly the same on a Mac running 10.6 to see if they can see the problem. Note, I've attached the set of bookmarks that I use to recreate the problem.

Reporter, can you please try to reproduce the issue on the latest Firefox beta: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/6.0b5/mac/en-US/

Has anyone else tried to reproduce this as I described above?

I was also able to recreate the bug using the latest release of FF 6.0 using a profile with no add-ons installed and a minimal set of bookmarks. I did the procedure I outlined earlier of opening a number of websites in tabs simultaneously and when I opened the Library window it was blank. Also when I opened a new FF window I noticed that the bookmarks toolbar was blank as well. Note that I did have Sync enabled for this test profile.

This means that the issue is fixed in Firefox 7. Considering this, can you please change the status of this bug to Resolved WFM. Thx. (In reply to Will Fiveash from comment #14) > I just tried firefox v7b and I am not able to recreate the issue listed in > the bug.

(In reply to Vlad [QA] from comment #16) > This means that the issue is fixed in Firefox 7. > Considering this, can you please change the status of this bug to Resolved > WFM. > Thx. My inclination is to close this when FFv7 is out of beta and generally released, in case there is a regression.

So far I have not been able to recreate this bug with Firefox v7 so I'm closed this as resolved. I note however that the cause of this bug is not known.
