It would be great if it was possible to push a git tree instead of a mercurial tree to tryserver. This would obviously be quite a bit of work, but would help us get a good idea of how practical it would be to switch to git.

Is there any backstory to the "switch to git" bit? This sounds like it ought to have discussion in tree-management or something first...

Unless we're just talking about pushing via a git-to-hg mirror setup.

There isn't really much backstory, and this bug certainly isn't meant as a suggestion that we switch. Mostly it's to make things better for people who already use git. However, it has the added benefit of giving us data were we ever to want to switch.
This is an awful lot of work for releng for something we don't even know if we want to do.
