Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0
Build ID: 20110615151330
Steps to reproduce:
Geni Tree entry bug in Firefox
I find strange bug
If I am using Firefox (Firefox 5.0, Adobe Flash 10.3.181.34, Geni 0630a)
in tree view and I want to add person then I can't use in names fields symbols via AltGr (Right Alt) of Estonian Keyboard Layout.
Estonian Kayboard Layout - http://ascii-table.com/keyboard.php/454
These symbols:
@ £ $ € { [ ] } \ € § š ^ ½ | ž
The input fields are not reacting at all with these keyboard entries.
(tested both Inline Tranalation on and off).
Surprisingly in Google Chrome (Chrome 14.0.803.0, Adobe Flash 10.3.181.34) all this is working (i.e I can make [Unnamed] in Chrome.
What can this be? Is it bug of Firefox?
Lauri
Actual results:
The input fields are not reacting at all with these keyboard entries.
(tested both Geni Inline Translation on and off).
Expected results:
Possibility to input: @ £ $ € { [ ] } \ € § š ^ ½ | ž

Build: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:8.0a1) Gecko/20110720 Firefox/8.0a1

Can you be more clear on the steps to reproduce? What exactly use the ALTGr for? Change between input languages? Is there an OS setting that you change (i.e. language options)?

(In reply to comment #1)
In Estonian we use AltGr for Input of these symbols: @ £ $ € { [ ] } \ € § š ^ ½ | ž
(look: http://ascii-table.com/keyboard.php/454 )
Here the problem is that in Adobe/Macromedia Flash Mozilla Firefox uses only 2 keyboard layers - normal (qwerty...) and Shift (QWERTY...) in input fields, but AltGr (3rd) layer (used in Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Finnish etc.) is missing.
In this example we used www.geni.com flash-based Tree View and with FF5 it was impossible to use brackets like { } or [ ]

I verified the issue and it works on
-> Firefox 8 Nightly | Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:8.0a1) Gecko/20110721 Firefox/8.0a1
-> Firefox 6 Beta | Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:6.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0
Lauri,
Can you check to see if it works for you as well, on the latest Firefox 6 Beta?:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/channel/
Firefox 6 will be released in a couple of weeks (August) so the issue will not be visible on a release build anymore, if the case.
