Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/12.0.742.122 Safari/534.30

Steps to reproduce:

send ebay member emails checking the box in ebay member mail window to send me a copy of my message to ebay members.

Actual results:

it comes into my inbox saying I am a different ebay member id. i.e. calls me the wrong member name (id)

Expected results:

My Thunderbird "from" column should have my ebay member name correct. I verified with ebay support and within my ebay member email system and they have it right. Their tech says it must be my email system I use.
When you read the message, does the "From" field in the message header have a filled-in star next to it (i.e. not just an outline)? If so, what's probably happening is that you added that address to your address book in a previous version of Thunderbird, and it's now showing the display name you "set" for that address; it probably just picked up an out-of-date name to use as the display name.

If that's correct, then you can fix this by clicking on the star, then clicking "Edit Details", and unchecking "Always prefer display name over message header". Bug 672966 comment 6 has some more background about this.
