User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.18) Gecko/20110628 Ubuntu/10.10 (maverick) Firefox/3.6.18
Build ID: 20110628231248
Steps to reproduce:
Compose a message with multiple paragraphs that each need more then one line. Insert at the end of one line in one of the paragraphs and enter (return).
Actual results:
Visually the same text is there because no wrapping needs to occurs. It is not clear to the composer of the message that this enter is inserted, be it on purpose or an error.
Expected results:
Sligthly highlight the current paragraph in grey so that unwanted or wanted line breaks are visible. See screenshots in attachements for reference.
Of course controls can be added to Prefernces... to enable or disable this. Perhaps it should only apply to plain text composition. In that case it can become a default setting (enabled) as far as I'm concerned.

What would be the value of the highlight can you expand on your use case ?
Severity: normal → enhancement
Use cases:
- more quickly find the line the cursor is in for editing that line
- more quickly find the line the cursor is in for reading back that line
- more easily find unintended line breaks
