673671 - Column From has a bug when From has a pipe "|"

Steps to reproduce:

Nothing, just updated.
It was OK with Thunderbird 3.1


Actual results:

The from field value which is shown in the column is wrong. It's from another mail.


Expected results:

Please check my attached files. I think this might come from the pipe symbol "|" which I use for redirecting my mails from my own mail server.

Let me guess: all of these emails that you're redirecting end up from the same address (i.e. [e-mail])? In that case, you'll want to click on the star next to the From field in the message reader, then click "Edit Details" and uncheck "Always prefer display name over message header".

If that fixes things, then this is a dupe of bug 672966.

That did it.
You are right.

The fix for this is to do the steps I mentioned above or, if you prefer, to disable showing display names from the address book entirely by going to Options -> Advanced -> Reading & Display and unchecking "Show only display name for people in my address book". Thunderbird is working as intended here, since we wanted to give users the ability to control how names are displayed in the message and thread pane.
