Filing this For the fall back to school acquisition campaign we need a snippet icon. Design direction to come from the landing page design.

Will fill in more detail after meeting with Tara.
cc-ing Matej. this will be both copy *and* design.

Isn't that what bug 674383 is for? Or is this different?

We can probably use the Owl here. In fact, I think we already have an owl snippet graphic.

Matej, I think for something like a snippet.. it's sometimes faster to just knock out copy and design in one bug. Is that cool with you? If so, lets pour our snippet hearts into this bug, and I'll close out the other one.

Perfect. As long as we're all on the same page, I'm totally good with that.
Thanks Matej. Closing the other bug out and combining with this one.

Attaching 2 versions of the snippet to choose from. Thoughts?
Thanks Lee, both look great. Any chance you can also try one with the head of the owl cropped and zoomed in more? Keep in mind that we're not tied to the old 40x50 box.

any idea what the new snippet dimensions are?
Um, it's a little flexible. Check out the ones Ty recently did, here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=550506&action=edit

Basically my point was that we can go a little bigger than the tiny tiny box we were limited by before. It still needs to fit within the new snippet frame...
I don't want to over-think this one more then necessary, if possible. The Aurora snippet Ty created recently is around 90 x 74px, so I'll work within those specs. I think having bigger dimensions than our previous 40 x 50px should afford us space for the whole owl
I was going to wait until we'd settled on a headline or two before writing these, but then I realize that two of them suited themselves better to snippets than the others. Also, sometimes it's better to see something to start the conversation. So with that, some options:

Boost your productivity with a custom Back to School version of Firefox.

Get 4 tools for back to school in a special custom version of Firefox.

Download a custom Back to School version of Firefox and spend less time doing more.

Go back to school armed with the productivity add-ons in a special custom version of Firefox.
Question: are the snippets going to be talking about the BYOB build, or the collections? I think they should be talking about the add-ons/collections vs. a download CTA (custom version) since those seeing snippets already have Firefox.

Thoughts?

Hm, that's a very good point. I think it brings up another issue as well. If people aren't going to be pointed to the BYOB download page via snippets, how will they find it?

Anyway, it's easy to change the above snippets to talk about collections instead, if that's what we want to do:

Boost your productivity with a custom Back to School add-on collection for Firefox.

Get 4 tools for back to school in a special add-on collection for Firefox.

Download a custom Back to School add-on collection for Firefox and spend less time doing more.

Go back to school armed with the productivity add-ons in a special collection for Firefox.

Great question :) and I'm sure Chelsea has an answer. I suspect it includes ads / promos on social media, etc. or related campaign across campuses to "spread the word". I'll let her answer this.

I like this.

> Get 4 tools for back to school in a special add-on collection for Firefox.

I like this, too.

I like this, but feels a little long. Ideally we shouldn't have to say it's "for Firefox" right? Maybe something like for "your" Firefox instead? just a thought.

I prefer "equipped" vs. "armed".
People will be pointed to this page through a variety of channels. There will be some snippet traffic, but there will also be display ads though AdWords and through student union websites (will be filing bugs for those ads in a week or so once the agreements are settled - they won't go live at the same time as the site).

New users will arrive via the ads and current users through the snippet and other promos.

Does that help?
Based on some recent snippets, I scaled this snippet up to 90w x 80 px. Thanks for the suggestion in Comment 8, Tara. I think the owl looks good in front of that green field, and keeps consistent with the other pages' graphics too.

I really like it!
I don't like it. I love it. Done.
I've got the files. So resolving fixed!
