When you send a mail with '>' character in the body. You don't see it in the message pane when you receive the mail. Data loss !!!

no, that doesn't ring any bells with me. naving, how are you sending this message? (plain text compose or html compose) I've tried a bunch of things on my branch build, and I'm not able to reproduce it. can you do a "view source" on your message and see what's in the message body? does it show up ok when you view it from 4.x?
