Because of bug 541219, we send everyone with Firefox 4.0+ to the "beta" branch of the config but we really should be sending them to the "desktop" and tagging with "beta".  (This is already happening per bug 662635)

I'm going to remove the entire beta branch as part of bug 675379 so this should land concurrently with that.

Mostly, except there is some related JavaScript that now does nothing. So this bug is just about removing that now.
