Hi there - I was hoping Rhonda could help out with this request as well since she's been working on some other stuff for College Recruiting and we would like to keep everything very cohesive looking...

We need to place an order for some notebooks to hand out at fall recruiting events this week.  We'd love a cool design for the cover of this notebook:  http://www.motivators.com/Promotional-Custom-CompositionBook50sheet85x11-25145.html#Tab13

A few things:

+  It's a one location imprint only, so the cover will need to be pretty simple looking.  They need the artwork in an EPS Vector format:  http://www.motivators.com/allaboutartwork.asp

+  Color and feel should be along the same lines as the Doodle speaker design - thinking darker greys/charcoal with a bright, slightly burnt-ish orange.  The cover will the dark grey and the text in orange.  

+  We'd love to incorporate the Firefox logo though I don't know that it needs to be smack dab in the middle of the cover - maybe on the bottom left or bottom right.  Wherever you think it looks best.

+  We would like to see "mozilla Firefox" next to the logo - the wordmark would probably work great.


We need to place the order this week, so the sooner we can see the design, the better!  Thank you very much for your help - please let me know if anything was unclear.

Hey Tara--no problem.

Hey Kimber--it seems as though the speaker will be the FF blue gradient with a FF College character (the superfan or green guy), but since this needs to be a simple design because of the printing, I'd agree that the cover could be the grey with a orange or white FF logo in the lower right corner.

I think there's a lot of good direction in Sean's merch mockups you could follow re: the grey + Firefox logo. I would keep it simple & classy and go with the minimal design style.
Just met with the rest of the college team and we wanted to request a small addition to the notebook.  Can you please include our URL:  "college.mozilla.com" on the notebook?

If it's a big time saver and cleaner visually, we could even just go with the Firefox logo and the URL and take out the "mozilla Firefox" completely.  Either way, we want to make sure the URL is on there.  Thoughts?

Including the URL seems fine to me. Rhonda, up to you as to how you want to implement it with the logo.

I was only waiting for the Mozilla Firefox logo to use on this (as opposed to the new Firefox logo without the Mozilla), since we were planning on using it on the speakers.

So should I go ahead then and just use the new FF logo without the Mozilla on this one, and wait for the Moz FF logo for the speakers then?

Thanks Rhonda.  Sorry, I was unable to find a template for the notebook, but as long as it's in an EPS vector format, they should be able to work with it, if needed.

Can we try to go with #2 but take out the "mozilla" and just have the Firefox wordmark with the URL below next to the logo?  We really want the notebook in particular to clearly present the college URL and my concern with #3 is the URL is not noticeable enough.
I think that's fine. Our rule is that we should show Mozilla Firefox unless the Mozilla brand is represented nearby, but in this case having the URL covers the Mozilla portion.

So, I think dropping the Mozilla logo from the wordmark in this case would be a nice solution.

One thing I'll add is remember to bring in the alternate logo + wordmark artwork without mozilla instead of just cutting it as the alignment of the wordmark changes in either case.

Hey Rhonda, I just printed out your designs, and when printed, I actually prefer the placement of the original version #3 when printed to scale.  Can we go with version 3, but take out the "mozilla" so it just has Firefox with the URL right below (as you just did with the other version).

Awesome, thank you.  So is this now printer-ready?  (EPS vector format)
Yes, ready to go to the printer. Its a PDF but can be opened as a vector EPS through Illustrator.
