User Agent: Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) Presto/2.9.168 Version/11.50

Steps to reproduce:

pressed ctrl-tab and held ctrl key

Actual results:

the tab switched instantly to another

Expected results:

i expected a behaviour similar to alt-tab when holding alt: see a list of tabs and cycle through them
Severity: normal → enhancement

There was an older experiment with tab previews, see <http://www.favbrowser.com/how-to-enable-firefox-3-6-tab-preview/> for instructions. It's however to slow to be used (since it shows many tabs), it's not useful if you have dozens of tabs open and you can't use it to organize your tabs in groups.

That's why it more or less replaced by panorama (aka tab candy). It's currently on ctrl-shift-E, but many people place the icon in the toolbar or even in the titlebar.
Isn't this accomplished by setting browser.ctrlTab.previews to true?
i am afraid not.
look at the opera attachment i've uploaded and compare to how firefox does it:

opera stacks titles vertically on the left and displays a preview in the right side
while
firefox shows maximum six previews, six rectangles, titles wrapped under each rectangle (see attachment i'll upload now)

this means: opera can handle all tabs and can present them in a clearly readble form, firefox does it in a confusing way (trying to imitate windows vista alt-tab application switcher which is poor also)
this was filed as an enhancement request but still desired today.
can Mozilla add this feature?
Severity: normal → S3
