This was originally filed as a part of bug 674018

Please consider using usernames as slugs for user profiles
We should be phasing out "username" unless absolutely necessary, given how it adds too much friction to sign up without adding enough value. So, no point in putting the slugs in user profiles if most people won't have slugs (and nobody really links to their user profiles anyway).
