From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.17 i686; en-US; m18) Gecko/20010203
BuildID: 2001020306
When using the Hermes sidebar, version 0.2.2 from
http://hermes.mozdev.org/installation.html sometimes the dropdown box appears
outside the mozilla window as per the screenshot.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1 Open Mozilla with the hermes 0.2.2 sidebar and make the sidebar the selected tab.
2 Select the file menu and choose "New Navigator Window".
3 Click on the hermes drop down box when it loads in the new window.
Actual Results: The drop down box appears below the mozilla window.
This keeps happening until you resize/move the mozilla window or minimise and
expand the sidebar (resizing the sidebar does not stop the behaviour)
Expected Results: The drop down box should appear in the normal place. (duh)

On linux I have also seen a similar and probably related bug where the drop
down option appears inside the sidebar tab, but right at the bottom, and not
where it should be. On Win9x however, there are no problems.

Does this happen:
* with other themes (e.g. Classic)?
* with popup menus in other sidebars (e.g. the Search sidebar in Advanced mode)?
I see the same problem with the International->uk->Ebay-UK Sidebar tab.
It has some dropdowns which appear miles away, well, quite a way below, anyway,
from where they should appear.
Closing the Sidebar, and re-opening fixes the problem.
This happens with all 3 default themes.
On a related(?) note, the right-click menu in this EBAY-UK Sidebar is also much
lower than it should be. (until a close-open on the Sidebar fixes it all)

This is caused by giving the select a % width. Will attach a testcase

My issue with the EBAY UK Sidebar is not fixed (which looks exactly the same as
the sreenshot on this bug.)
Could someone else try and reproduce it, by:
1) Starting a new Mozilla,
2) activating the EBAY UK Sidebar
3) selecting any of the select lists.
I see the actual list off the bottom of Mozilla -- but only the first time the
sidebar is activated. If you go to another Sidebar and back, or do some
browsing, then the select lists work OK -- it is only on the first visit to the
sidebar which shows this problem.

Madhur:
Yes, on Solaris nightly 20011102 (latest available as of 20011108), I still see
this on the EBAY UK sidebar (first visit only), and also on the testcase
attached to bug#64902

reopening, I've just tested the last testcase with build 2002021303 win32 trunk.
to test you need to reduce the width of the page and then click in the drop down.

These 5 bugs:
bug#53318
bug#64902
bug#67661
bug#86909
bug#129782
all seem very similar to me. Are there any duplicates here? Or any useful
information from any of the others that may help any of them get fixed?

I'm using Firefox 1.0PR/WinXP and the testcase above works when you shrink the
text (say, using CTRL--), but fails when you make the text larger (CRTL-+).
Actually, the rectangle that drops-down containing the options is correct, but
the actual dropdown widget is incorrectly sized. I'll attach shots of the testcase.

So could someone clearly explain what this bug is about? I see several comments
here that have absolutely nothing to do with the bug reported in comment 0
(comment 15 and thereafter, basically).
What are the steps to reproduce, expected, and actual rendering here?

This bug is WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b2)
Gecko/20050702 SeaMonkey/1.0a
The dropdown boxes are resized like expected now.
If no-one can reproduce it we could mark the bug WTF.

It also works with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b3)
Gecko/20050707 Firefox/1.0+
=> WFM
