I tend to have a good organisation in my tabs, by projects mostly. But opening links from other apps (mail, irc, twitter, rss) tend to destroy this organisation. I'd like an option for "Open links from external apps in group Foo".

There used to be an option a long time ago to open external links in a new window or new tab (which was separate from the option to open new links clicked from within Firefox in a new tab vs new window, which is now used for both situations). I complained about it back when that went away and didn't get very far. I used to always have links clicked in Firefox going to new tabs, and links clicked from external apps always went to new windows, exactly for that reason. If I meant for it to be in a tab group I could always drag it there afterwards, but 90% of the time it was a one-shot thing, and it would clutter the tab group if I forgot to close it or was distracted by something else before I was done with it.

Panorama has been removed from Firefox 45, currently in Beta and scheduled for release on March 7th. As such, I'm closing all existing Panorama bugs.
If you are still using Panorama, you will see a deprecation message in Firefox 44, and when 45 is released your tab group data will be migrated to bookmarks, with a folder for each group. There are also a few addons offering similar functionality.
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tab-groups-removal for more info.
We're removing Panorama because it has extremely low usage (about 0.01% of users), and has a large number of bugs and usability issues. The cost of fixing all those issues is far too high to justify, and so we'll instead be focusing our time and energy on improving other parts of Firefox.
