Using 2001-02-01-04 commercial build on WinNT
1. Select a folder in which you want to delete all the messages
2. Ctrl-A to select all
3. Shift-Del to delete them all without copying to the trash
Expected: messages to be deleted
Actual: nothing happens
I notice that if I select a message, and then Ctrl-A, Shift-Del, it works.
Also, if I use regular (copy-to-trash) delete, it works.

Ctrl+A doesn't do anything for me when focus is in the folder pane.

True, but when I select a folder, focus jumps to the thread pane.

See also bug 64076, which would involve always having an active item in a non-
empty tree, even if no items are selected. Fixing that bug might make this bug
go away. (64076 would also focus a blank "first element" in an empty tree.)
If I click on a folder and press down, the next folder is selected and then the
second folder's thread pane is focused. There has to be a bug in there
somewhere. Keyboard navigation in the folder pane should not try to focus the
thread pane, but I wouldn't mind too much if clicking a folder focused the
thread pane (although it would look strange). Should I file that as a separate
bug?

ksosez, please don't reset the severity field. The reporter owns severity. Back to
normal, since I try to do this all the time, and curse when it doesn't work.
Severity: minor → normal

Phil Petersen, is this bug still an issue for you? Ctrl-A is working to select
all messages in the folder when the focus is on the folder pane or the thread
pane; and shift-Del is deleting them. This is true whether or not a message has
been previously selected. Testing with Moz1.5.
If it's working for you, please mark this bug Resolved|WorksForMe.
