Location bar errors out if there is no match for entered text with a colon

Details
When I try to enter the following text in the location bar I get an error:
Oneword: a few other words too
The error alert is as follows:
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (oneword) isn't associated with any program.
I think that if Firefox doesn't know how to open up a "protocol" it should instead look to search for the string that was entered.
