To reproduce: 1. Launch Mail Account Setup Wizard. 2. Choose "ISP or email provider" and press "Next" button. 3. Type several spaces in "Your name" text field (and correct email address in "Email address" field) and press "Next" button. Expected result: Message box appears for incorrect entry in "Your Name" text field. (See http://mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/tests/sea-mn-multacctwiz.html) Actual result: Next dialog appears. Build&OS: NS 6.0A OEM build, Intel/Sparc Solaris 2.7;

Summary: "Your Name" text field accepts spaces → "Your Name" and server text fields accepts spaces
We had a discussion about this and our conclusion was the this should wont get fixed. Nowhere else in the app do we check for incorrect URLs, so if we do it here we have to do it anywhere. Example: URLBar, search sidebar, lots of prefs tabs and so on.. Also, there's a ton of other characters other than the space that makes a URL invalid so this just wouldn't work as the standards expand (now you can have å, ä and ö's in your URL. It's in the standards.). wontfix

A very difficult back-end bug 14295, "UI: Account Settings, Server Panel, username & Server Name not editable" stands in the way of addressing this issue. Once that bug gets addressed, this won't even be an issue.
verified. as hwaara mentioned above, there are several factors to this, and like I mentioned once we can edit the attributes directly in the account manager, this won't be an issue.
