User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; SunOS sun4u; rv:6.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0 Build ID: 20110812093811 Steps to reproduce: I installed Firefox 6.0 for SPARC Solaris 10. Actual results: After that all my bookmarks (from Firefox 3.6.x) are gone. So I tried to restore one of the backups available in the directory bookmarkbackup. Nothing happened except for the deletion (as warned) of the only bookmark I've added after the installation of FF6 and before I discovered that I'd lost all previous bookmarks Expected results: Firefox should preserve the bookmarks (or reformat them if necessary). At least restoring a backup should be possible.

it's possible there is some bug hitting that architecture, but I don't have such hardware to debug the problem. you may try to debug in nsNavHistory.cpp in the initDB method
Is your profile on NFS? Did you an old version of Firefox after upgrading to 6.0? I didn't reproduce the bookmarks lost on either ZFS or NFS with Firefox 3.6.20 and 6.0 / SPARC.
(In reply to Ginn Chen from comment #2) My profile is not on NFS. The first time this bug hit me, I can't remember whether I started an old version after installing version 6. But now I see that if I - by mistake - start a version 3.6 Firefox, the bookmarks are lost when I start 6.0.
unfortunately that's an unsupported platform, we'd take a patch if someone has one but we can't fix this bug without being able to reproduce it
