Details

(Whiteboard: [add-on idea])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:6.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0
Build ID: 20110811165603

Steps to reproduce:

Accidentially hit cmd-Q (while I wanted to hit cmd-A to mark all messages).

Actual results:

TB quit WITHOUT prompting me.

Expected results:

TB SHOULD HAVE prompted.
Same under Windoze, here we have Ctrl-Q/Ctrl-A.

dupe of bug 424378?

Nope.
The original reporter ("me") also says: "Nope." :-)
then please explain.
(cmd+q has never prompted, as noted in other bug reports)
Well, that exactly /is/ the bug IMHO. A program should never quit without prompting users first. That is a catastrophical user experience, if you ask me...

If there was a checkbox cluster "Ask for confirmation for the following: ... Quit", it would be fine if users explicitly disable the confirmation, but by default users should always be prompted.
I got fooled by comments in the bug about prompting.

The bugs I should have cited are bug 565567 and bug 426849

In version 31.2.0 TB will still (again?) quit without confirmation when hitting cmd-Q. This is extremely annoying. :-(
FTR, Fx quits without prompt unless you have more than one tab. Do we do the same? I don't see why we should prompt if only one tab is open.
In Firefox I use the "Always ask" extension for exactly THAT reason: I want to ALWAYS asked before a program quits, since cmd-Q is dangerously close to cmd-A which I often use.

If that extension was available for Thunderbird I would use it, but it isn't.
