Build 2001-02-09-04: NT4, Linux RH 6.2, Mac 9.04 Overview: Navigating using the keyboard is not working as expected: Actual Results: a. Open Account Settings, the first account is highlighted in grey and the up and down arrow buttons do not work. (Select the account so the account is highlighted in blue, now the up/down arrow keys work). b. Tab highlights the shared buttons but the Enter key performs an "OK" action. It doesn't recognize the button that is in focus. For instance: - Tab to the New Account button - Hit Enter and the Account Settings dialog closes when the Account Wizard should appear. c. Keep tabbing and the widgets to the right never get focus (Account Name, Your Name, Email Address). It should cycle through all the elements. d. Keep tabbing and it highlights the Cancel button, then the OK button, then it appear to lose focus, the next tab highlights an account in the left area. Where does it go after tabbing from the OK button? Expected Results: - The tab key should cycle through all the elements - The Enter key should perform the correct action, not necessarily close the Account Settings dialog - Shift+Tab should also cycle through all the elements

Marking nsbeta1 for accessibility reasons.

See also bug 18575, a metabug for keyboard-navigation issues for the main preferences window. A lot of the problems are the same for prefs, form manager, and account settings.

marking nsbeta1-. This sounds like a potential post beta bug.

Tab is working for me in Win2k. However, we could use some XUL accesskeys, and a Name above the tree, ala "Category" in preferences.

Secondary dialogs are not responding to the tab or Enter keys on my WinMe system: e. Account Settings panel, Advanced button for the "Advanced Account Settings" dialog. (and Escape/Enter does not close the dialog) f. Server panel, Advanced button for the "Advanced IMAP Server Settings" dialog. (but Escape/Enter closes the dialog) g. Offline & Disk Space, Select button for the "Select Items for Offline Usage" dialog. (and Escape/Enter does not close the dialog) h. Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings, Advanced button for the "Advanced Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings dialog. (but Escape/Enter closes the dialog)

Just pointing out that this isn't a "can't navigate" problem. It's a "inconvenient/incorrect" navigation problem. You can type space to activate a button. Currently you can navigate to everything using Tab/Shift-Tab. If it was a "can't navigate" we could argue to get it fixed sooner.
Summary: Account Settings: Keyboard navigation should work → Account Settings: Keyboard navigation should work better

I've checked all the points raised in comment 1 and comment 5, except where the described feature no longer exists (5:h), with Seamonkey 1.0 under Win2K. All navigation appears to be correct. Since this is an old bug, I'm going to WFM this (I doubt anyone will even notice); but if in fact there are still issues (say, with Mac or Linux), probably a new bug should be opened.
