"stop" not fast enough

You know that red X "stop" button, to "Stop loading this page"?
Well have you tried it in years?
If they made cars with brakes like that, we'd all be dead.
You might consider boosting its priority out of the layers and layers of other things that are listened to by the main program first.
Try this experiment:
On something less than the super fast new hardware that you all at Firefox
headquarters use, click http://aught-0.blogspot.com/ and try to stop it.
Yes it does eventually stop, but not right away.
Terrible.
Is the only thing Firefox can do right away is die, when some external signal tells it to? All other actions take years to get its attention when it is doing something else?

Have you tried this in Firefox Safe Mode and see if it makes any difference?

Today ESC stopped it both in safe and unsafe modes. Hmmm.
