User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0.2 Build ID: 20110902133214 Steps to reproduce: Close Fx: either in 'normal' way or force quit. Actual results: Open it again: often there's no App Tabs and previously opened tabs, tab groups etc. Fx opens with default start page. 'Restore session' button is 'grey', not working. Typing about:sessionrestore takes me to empty box in about:sessionrestore. It's hard to say if the History is affected: it seems ok, but the oftenly opened web pages like the App Tabs ones seem not to be high in the History. It happened (many) more than 10 times at few recent months. It's REALLY TROUBLESOME !!!! Because of that I have to bookmark of use 'Read It later' Add-on for every page I use because I'm always uncertain if opening Fx again would result seeing what I saw before. Expected results: It should remember the recent sessions as it does in most of the times.

This happens ALL THE TIME (about 20-50% of closing down/opening). I consider switching on different browser than Fx, because Fx is TOTALLY UNSTABLE with this bug. It's probably 5th time in recent few weeks when I lost important pages that I left open when closing Fx and after opening again I start with home-page-only screen. Please DO SOMETHING WITH THAT!!! I use Fx for several years and I consider it as the best browser, but with this bug Fx just SUCKS. Sorry, but I'm unable to reproduce it (as I wrote before). I do not use any 'strange' add-ons and I deleted most of add-ons to use it in the as-pure-as-possible form, but still Fx power is in the add-ons in great deal.
OK, it happen again (yes in last few minutes). A clue here: Fx 'freezes' before closing down, hangs down on quit. After that I loose my data. It's probably this moment when it crushes.

The problem exists in latest version and older ones. I use those extensions: - Adblock Plus - Fire FTP - Greasemonkey (with 3 SIMPLE scripts) - Read It Later - Password exorter plus spellchecking dictionaries I don't think those could be the problem: they have many usera and I was using them for years with no problems in previous versions.
Try this in the console for a clean profile: $ /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -no-remote -p and also please try in safe mode like described in comment1. Thanks

If you asked: in 8.0 this is still an issue.
In 13.0 the problem STILL EXISTS: Fx hangs at least once a week and all the tabs that were opened before disappear (I have to bookmark everything).
i managed to make a new profile with: $ arch -i386 /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -ProfileManager I was installing and uninstalling, enabling and disabling all the addons I use. I found that: 1) It was a problem with a broken profile: making a new profile helped. 2) It was probably in some way connected to Read It Later addon: when I disabled it and enabled again (on the former profile) it happened that all the other addons disappeared, i.e. I had "no addons" on my Fx. I had to install a random addon, open Fx again and then it opened with all the addons but all of them disabled. As for now it it *probably* resolved. If anyone could check the Read It Later behavior and interaction with Fx and it's addons it'd be good!
Erratum: the problem appeared again, in my new profile... With no reason. Smething should be done with it!

I'm not able to confirm or deny if the bug presists, because now I'm using a different (better) OS, i.e. Linux, not Mac OS X. In recent Fx on Ubuntu everything works great. Last time I used Mac OS X the problem presisted (less than year ago) but was less frequent whan the bug ticket was send.
