Steps to reproduce:

Click Send with spell-check first enabled! 


Actual results:

Once in a while (approx the 100-or-so referenced in the above bug), click replace causes T-bird to freeze (has to be closed with Task Manager). 
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20110902 Thunderbird/6.0.2 plus
Silvermel & Lightning. Having this happen while spell-checking a lengthy e-mail is a royal pain. 


Expected results:

Unless/until the bug is identified and fixed, spell-check should save a draft before starting.

1. Please list a full set of steps, so anyone can attempt to reproduce.
2. Does problem reproduce when started in safe mode ?  http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode
3. And, please change the bug summary to describe the actual issue.

is bug 217556 the correct citation?  I don't see how, because Spell check is never mentioned there.
