User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0.2 Build ID: 20110902133214 Steps to reproduce: I opened the settings panel on a mac Actual results: A gray box appeared on the upper left corner of the main window, covering the 3 window buttons typically visible in each mac os windows. Even switching window the box remains there. It disappear on quitting firefox Expected results: The box should not have appeared.
I was unable to reproduce this on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:9.0a1) Gecko/20110921 Firefox/9.0a1 and also on Firefox 6.0.2 The issue is reproducible every time? Can you provide some detailed steps? Thanks
This issue is reproducible every time. It affects me using either Mozilla/5.0 or 6.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549) Kernel Version: Darwin 10.8.0). This gray squared layer is visibile every time i open the settings panel, more precisely when on closing this panel. The squared little layer on the right upper corner will remain there visible, obscuring anything under it, also affecting all the other opened windows. It disappear only on quitting firefox.

Reporter, is the issue still reproducing on latest firefox? Thanks
Yes, running on firefox 7.0.1 and the issues is still reproducing. I fear it may be affected from some addon
Considering commen5, please try to see if the issue occurs if using Firefox in safe mode: http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode How about with a new, empty testing profile? (Don't install any addons into it) http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile Please post back after you tried this. Thanks
The issue does not occur in safe mode or using a fresh profile with no addons. I tried to use my current profile disabling (but not removing) all the current addons and the issue is still reproducing. Here is a list of all my installed addons: Application: Firefox 7.0.1 (20110928134238) Operating System: Darwin (x86_64-gcc3) - Access Me 0.2.4 (Disabled, Incompatible) - Add to Search Bar 2.0 (Disabled) - BugMeNot 2.2 (Disabled) - Dizionario italiano 3.3.1 (Disabled) - Extension List Dumper 1.15.2 - FEBE 7.0.2 (Disabled) - Firebug 1.8.3 (Disabled) - Firesheep 0.1 (Disabled, Incompatible) - GazoPa Similar Image Search 0.13 (Disabled, Incompatible) - Greasemonkey 0.9.12 (Disabled) - Keep Tube Downloader 1.2 (Disabled) - Page Speed 1.12.0.1 (Disabled) - Smart Bookmarks Bar 1.4.3 (Disabled, Incompatible) - SQL Inject Me 0.4.5 (Disabled, Incompatible) - TinEye Reverse Image Search 1.1 (Disabled) - ToolbarBrowser 1.3.2 (Disabled, Incompatible) - Web Developer 1.1.9 (Disabled) - WebMail Notifier 2.8 (Disabled) - Xmarks 4.0.2 (Disabled) - XSS Me 0.4.4 (Disabled, Incompatible)
You have to disable every add-on but one at a time and check after each one to see if the issue is still present. This is the only way that you can isolate the issue to one particular add-on
Hi Leonard. Did you follow my advice from comment8? Was the grey box present after disabling the add-ons/extensions one by one? Thanks.
Hi Vlad, your suggestion did not work. Even disabling all the addon I still could reproduce the issue. I SOLVED restarting in safe mode and check the checkbox "Restart all user preferences to Firefox defaults" so I don't know exactly wich one of my preferences was creating that problem.. Since then I could not reproduce the issue anymore.
Considering your comment10, I'll close the bug but you can reopen it if the issue is still reproducing. Setting resolution to Resolved WFM.
