While at the all-hands, I really needed to be able to send a text message to colleagues, but the ldap login prevented the phonebook from being useful on my mobile phone. As crappy as the layout will be on mobile, at least I'd be able to find a phone number and email address using search. cc'ing mcoates for a sanity check on security implications.

Sync what to what?

Sorry, that's what I get for single-word comments.
I meant to say "would this problem be solved without introducing global security concerns if you stored your password in Firefox and used Firefox Sync to propagate it to your cell phone?"

I'm sure that would work smashingly if I weren't on iPhone.

For a majority of LDAP accounts (i.e. all those not in special security groups), passwords are now non-expiring. In addition, Firefox for iOS is coming out soon and includes Sync.
