Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0.2
Build ID: 20110902133214

Steps to reproduce:

Using IE7 to configure the system proxy. Added a proxy and FF is using this setting due to option "use system proxy". Redo (remove proxy setting in IE7) works also fine for both browsers...but one exception:
I am running a tomcat on port 8800. Using the url http://localhost:8800 while proxy is active caused a timeout because the proxy server did not respond. After removing proxy - FF still tries to access the ip of the proxy for the localhost:8800 url and runs into timeout. IE7 works proper.

Actual results:

Timeout showing the proxy IP even through proxy is turned off. Changing FF settings to do not use proxy did not help. flushdns also did not help

Expected results:

localhost should work at least after proxy was turned off.
Did you restart Firefox after changing the system proxy setting ?
