Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0.2 Build ID: 20110902133214 Steps to reproduce: I set a switch in Firefox so that a new tab would be opened when searches are executed from the toolbar search window. I cannot remember the location of the switch variable, but I identified it by searching the Mozilla site looking for a way to get the "new tab" behavior from the search window. Actual results: I enter the search string into the window. Then, if I start the search by hitting the Enter key, Firefox opens the new tab. However, if I start the search by clicking the magnifying glass in the search window, the search opens in the active window, instead of opening a new window. Expected results: It should open a new tab for the search (Google) when I click the magnifying glass.
Did you set browser.search.openintab as True in about:config? Able to reproduce all the way back to at least Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.22) Gecko/20110902 Firefox/3.6.22 ID:20110902133716 so doesn't appear to be a recent regression.... Oh - found an open bug for this - duping now
