Google Reader's mobile interface (which is probably the wrong one to serve to my Firefox Android tablet, but that's a different bug) has key commands for navigation - 1 to go to the original blog post, 0 to go to the next blog post. However, I have no way of invoking the virtual keyboard because there is no text field to focus. As web apps become more prominent, I suggest that the need for a keyboard without a visible text input field will grow. We need some way of invoking the keyboard manually. Gerv
Holding in the menu button on some (all?) Android devices will bring up the virtual keyboard.
This tablet does not have a hardware menu button. On the new Fennec tablet UI, there is a software menu button in the top right; holding that down does not bring up the VK. Gerv
First bug 630576 would need to be fixed so that the key events are sent to the page.
