after migrating from ns 4.7 the mail folder summary files are not
created unless i at least once open each folder. when i get mail that
is filtered into a folder i haven't opened before, this folder will
contain only the new messages (all migrated messages are lost).

Reporter try creating a new profile and see if that fixes the problem.

creating a new profile doesn't fix the problem, since the problem here is you may
lose large amounts of data, possibly without even noticing, and will have no
obvious clue how to proceed.

I've attempted to reproduce this bug by migrating my 4.7x mail into Mozilla
(2001050204). I then created a Mail filter to point to one of the migrated
files, and sent myself a test message. It sucessfully enetered the migrated
folder. I also ensured that I had *not* opened this folder prior to the receipt
of said message.

Changing status to WORKSFORME since we haven't heard from the reporter in over 2
months. Reporter: If you can still duplicate this error, please attach us the
mailbox file(s) in question and we'll reopen the bug.
