User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0.2 Build ID: 20110906120836 Steps to reproduce: delete one entry (line). TB 6.02 on linux gnome 3 Actual results: after deletion the selected entry is the first of the list Expected results: the previous or next entry should be the selected entry after removal
Severity: normal → minor
Version 7.0 User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0) Gecko/20110925 Thunderbird/7.0 Application Build ID 20110925021328 I can confirm this for version 7.0. If you have configured more than one address book - after removal of a contact in one of the address books - the first contact in the first address book will be selected.
breaking_pitt, can you reproduce? I cannot reproduce this on win7 using nightly build
It does not occur with my second profile but yes i can reproduce it with the address book in the first profile. I will confirm after updating to 7.0.
Walt, can you reproduce this? I still cannot reproduce this using 60 beta on Windows 7

I can't reproduce it using 52.8.0 or 60.0b6 on Linux or Windows 10. If I understand correctly. I'm opening the Address Book window. Deleting a contact from one of the address books in the Directory Pane. Closing the Address Book window. Open a composition window and the first contact in the first address book will be selected when you type a letter in the To: field, no matter what that letter is. I can only reproduce that if I type the letter a, which brings up the first entry (Ameriprise), in the first address book (Personal), along with others with that letter from all my address books. If I type the letter c, I get addresses with that letter. Not the address for Ameriprise as the first entry. That is at the bottom of the list of addresses.

Same like Wayne, this is wfm using 75.0a1 (2020-02-27) (64-bit) on Windows 10.
Can someone check on Linux?
Lionel (reporter), does this still go wrong for you?

Just delete any contact from directory pane of any AB and check if the next entry gets selected after that.
What I have seen sometimes is that it scrolls back to first entry and the selected contact will be out of view.

If I understand correctly.

I think not...
