This is an idea that Corey originated on Yammer: "I run into people all of the time who have never heard of Firefox and are definitely not using it, but may be interested. I tell them about it, get them interested, and then have to scramble for a piece of paper and pen to write down the name and address. As memorable as the conversation may be, I don't expect the person to remember the name let alone a url. Why don't we come up with a set of business cards that give brief bullet points of why Firefox is awesome and where they can download it/find it on the market? Spread these out to anyone interested in handing them out, and next time I sit next to a stranger on a plane and talk Firefox I can just pull a card out of my wallet that they can refer to later." Other ideas discussed were the inclusion of a QR code and whether this should be a standalone item or something people could add to the back of their business cards (or both). Let's make this a copy and design bug and use it to share and brainstorm ideas.
Some very early, very rough copy points (though I think we can be a lot more interesting/creative here — just throwing these out to start the conversation somewhere): What is Mozilla Firefox? It’s a browser built with the latest technologies. It’s a non-profit working for the good of the Web. It’s a global community, 450 million strong and growing. Download and learn more at mozilla.org/firefox What is Mozilla Firefox? It’s a browser made for the modern Web. It’s a non-profit working for the good of users everywhere. It’s a global community building a better Web. Download and learn more at mozilla.org/firefox
Another thought: should one side be desktop and the other mobile? Also, for reference, this already exists: http://mozilla.seanmartell.com/mobile-qr.png
I like this idea very much!
Just wanted to ping here to say that there's some branding work going on right now related to messaging that may help us figure out what a card like this could and should say. Stay tuned!

Per our call earlier today, this is no longer on hold (removing that from the whiteboard). Tara, let's discuss resourcing soon.

Thanks for the update. Chelsea, could you please follow up and insert the outline of what we're looking for here? Basically a summary of what was discussed so we have a short brief to go off of.
adding Ty so he's in the loop.

Yes! Love this idea. Thanks for looping me in.
Just an update, I'm meeting with an rep from Moo on Friday to talk about NFC/RFID cards and I should have all the specs shortly after that. Will update as soon as I can.
(In reply to Chelsea Novak [:chelsea] from comment #9) > Just an update, I'm meeting with an rep from Moo on Friday to talk about > NFC/RFID cards and I should have all the specs shortly after that. Will > update as soon as I can. Cool idea!! Will that limit the production of the cards? If so it might be prudent to skip that addition, a lot of the target audience for such cards have never heard of Firefox, meaning they probably would not know much about NFC or RFID either..
Hey Corey, What we're thinking right now is that we'd so a couple of small production runs (in a couple of locales and some with NFC some without) and see which ones get traction. Depending on the data we get, we'd scale the project up from there.
We're doing a test with Moo for NFC cards, so as per creative's suggestion I'm going to move this project into that bug so that we can keep the creative organized. It's bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=805536 if anyone in this bug is interested in following along.
