Based on feedback on registration experience from John Slater:
Thought: this would be a good place to put some friendlier or more engaging text that adds a bit of personality and increases the connection with the user. Something like "Thanks for registering! You're almost there now...just confirm your account to get started connecting with your fellow Mozillians."

How about this?
Greetings, Mozillian! Thanks for signing up. Please confirm your account to start connecting with other Mozillians around the world.

Sounds like a fantastic idea. How about another piece of contributor engagement strategy and putting a link toward the mozilla.org/contribute page?

I think it's a great idea in theory, but I'm afraid it distracts from what we want people to do here, which is click to confirm their account. This adds another click, which creates some ambiguity. Is there any concern that people would click to the Contribute page and then forget to come back and confirm their account?
Adding LoFo to get her perspective.

I'm for KIS, since another link potentially blocks the critical path. No click to confirm, no new registrant.
I suggest adding that cross-promotion to the confirmation page itself, or on whatever the next step in this registration process is.

Confirmation emails won't be necessary with BrowserID, which we want to land in the next release, so that's something to keep in mind.

No more confirmation e-mails now that we have BrowserId.
