This bug was reported originally by Dave Teare see emails in the attachment.

I tried out the example, and the memory usage goes up quite rapidly indeed by opening new tabs. Opening new tabs does not load new modules, so there are no new compartments created so merging the compartments will not solve this issue. (there are 50 compartments or so for the first so applying the compartment merge patch here save some megs).

I will check how are context menus created and why are they taking up so much memory.
