Can we please have a cron running every few hours, that will update all locales on production?

I have to advise against that: If you translate on trunk, and land changes to the .po files there, but then put those onto an "old" state of the code in production, it's possible you're suddenly losing translations in production. I am all for updating locales more frequently than releasing code, but I am not convinced we can do it on a cron job without significant risk at messing up production.

How about we hijack this bug to better the l10n process itself for Mozillians.org? I'd prefer finding a better approach that works for everyone.

Mozillians is now deployed via chief so updates are much easier. We might look into doing l10n updates outside of a code push but that would be a different bug, we would not update via cron.
