User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 Build ID: 20110928060149 Steps to reproduce: In any text edit box (including this one), double-click no longer selects a whole word. Also in any other website I've tried, including gmail and many others. Actual results: The cursor is moved to the location of the double-click as if it were a single click Expected results: The word should have been selected.
OK - I found the culprit. It seems that the Answers.com '''1-Click Answers''' utility had changed its behavior. In its Options on the Activation tab is an option to activate it when using double-click in a browser. I don't remember turning it on, but it ''was'' on. When I turned that option off, the problem went away. Apparently it is not compatible with FF8, since double-click was apparently intercepted, but 1-Click Answers was not activated - the double-click simply became a no-op. Now that I've turned off that option, double-click in FF8 is back to the way it's supposed to work for quickly selecting a whole word or sentence. If anyone else encounters this problem, I hope this information will help to resolve it. I am changing the status of this bug.
