Build ID: Mozilla/5.0 (Android;Linux armv7l;rv:10.0a1)Gecko/20111004 Firefox/10.0a1 Fennec/10.0a1 Device: Samsung Galaxy S OS: Android 2.2 Due to bug 675820, "Set Up Sync" link was added on the bottom of about:home page. So there are 2 ways to connect to Sync in the same time. I guess that it would be better for users that the name of "Tabs from your other computer" to be changed in "Set Up Sync" until the Sync is connected. After this step, the button name will be changed back to "Tabs from your other computer".
Not sure I completely agree with this. The user may not necessarily know that he/she needs Sync in order to view tabs from other computers.
(In reply to Philipp von Weitershausen [:philikon] from comment #1) > Not sure I completely agree with this. "Tabs from other computers" is sort of a teaser -- it's a *goal* that makes sense to users who don't already know about sync, whereas "Set up sync" is a *step* that makes sense to users who are already looking for it. We might want to keep both, even though they do the same thing.
Madhava talked about combining these into a single button. When Sync is not configured: | Tabs from other computers | | (set up Sync) | When Sync is configured: | Tabs from other computers | This let's people know that "Sync" and "Other computers" are actually related and not two separate things.
Note that the "Set up Sync" and "Pair a Device" links are going to be a common artifact across the desktop and mobile UI, according to Faaborg's mockups (which we're in the process of implementing in bug 675826 and deps). The key here is discoverability and consistency across platforms. I personally am not worried if that means we're duplicating a little bit of UI here and there.
Right - some users are told by someone that they need to set up sync, and so will be looking for those words (I wonder how many will find it in Settings - that's where I'd look, certainly - but a shortcut's not a bad idea for so important a feature), whereas others have no idea about sync but will be excited by the idea of seeing tabs from other computers. Anyway, others have said as much in the bug, and Finkle's pasted my off-the-top-of-my-head suggestion in comment 3. We're also looking to make some layout revisions to the tablet version of the start page, which gives us some room to make this more prominent yet. No longer relevant. The synced tabs section does prompt the user to sign up for a Firefox Account for Sync.
