dragging links to gnome-terminal/<TEXTAREA> drops text, not HREF

When I drag a link from that display into a gnome-terminal, I get the text ("mozilla-0.8-0.i386.rpm"), not the HREF ("http://people.redhat.com/blizzard/software/RH7/RPMS/i386/0.8-0/mozilla-0.8-0.i386.rpm"). This also happens in <TEXTAREA>s, like the one I'm typing in now. Blizzard thinks it's related to us offering text/plain for a dragged link, and had a work-around in his 0.7 RPMs. I don't know why we'd offer text/plain for a dragged link, unless we were dragging the selection of the link. Which, actually, might be the case: during and after the drag, the link is select-highlighted, though it doesn't get copied to the clipboard (as selections usually do in X).
