Attempted to resize text in browser using alt+- (alt + minus). Graphics are reset and user is returned to login screen. Ugh. Showstopper.

i presume we're crashing your X server. but we need at least: buildid xserver name/buildid hardware info memory concerns? [have infinite?] running as root? installed as root? server is root?

Yes. Mozilla's crashing my X server. buildid = 2001011100 xserver name = shiva:0 hardware = SGI MIPS R12000 02, 512Mb RAM, CRM GFX memory concerns: lots available running as root? no. installed as root? no. It prolly should be, tho.
