Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; 0.8) Gecko/20010219 BuildID: Noticed that although deleted messages are no longer visible in Mozilla, many are not deleted from the files for inbox, sent, etc, even after Trash has been emptied. Noticed when doing backups that although Sent folder was empty in Mozilla view, on disk it was still 1.1MB; inbox was 600k in Mozilla view (adding up headers "size" column), it as 5MB on disk. etc. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 0. Send self test message 1. get messages 2. view message 3. delete message 4. empty trash (File | Empty Trash) 5. exit mozilla 6. view inbox file in a text editor Ditto for messages deleted from Sent folder, or other folders. Actual Results: Deleted and expunged messages are still in file. Expected Results: Deleted and expunged messages should no longer be in file.
empty local trash no longer does a compact all folders, like it did in 4.x. So you'd need compact the individual folders in question. Navin just implemented compact all folders, I believe, so this could be a dup of that.
