User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:9.0a2) Gecko/20111015 Firefox/9.0a2
Build ID: 20111015042020
Steps to reproduce:
On a Linux machine, selected a URL, middle-clicked on the new tab button.
Actual results:
Nothing.
Expected results:
In Google Chrome, this opens a new tab with the URL. It is a very efficient way to do this. To do the same in Firefox, you need to open a new tab, paste the URL in the location bar, and press go - three clicks instead of one.
This feature doesn't have to be restricted to Linux only. Opening a URL in the clipboard with a single mouse click can be useful on any platform.

Victor, you can open the link in a new Firefox tab by simply middle-clicking it. You don't need more than this one click.
This feature would be a great enhancement, e.g. if you copied a link from another application and want to open it in Firefox, you have to open a new tab, and "Paste & Go" into the location bar.
A workaround is installing the extension "Paste Onto New Tab Button".

I think this is a duplicate of Bug 1418462
Actually the other way around. But since bug 1418462 has a patch, it makes sense to close this one.
