RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 678352

People

(Reporter: mark, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1
Build ID: 20111003182034

Steps to reproduce:

I try to type a full URL into my address bar, such as "http://www.google.com/".

Actual results:

Every time I start typing, the location bar "auto-completes" with a string such as "www.mozilla.org", replacing the first letters I've typed with the first letters of what Firefox wanted to fill in. For example, I would end up with an unhighlighted "w" and a highlighted "ww.mozilla.org". Of course, this all happens very quickly while I keep typing, so I overwrite the "ww.mozilla.org" with "ttp...", ending up with "wttp..." instead of "http...". It is actually impossible for me to type "http" without first getting "wttp" and going back to correct it.

Expected results:

The location bar should not replace letters I've already typed with different letters.

Now, you may argue that I should just type "google.com" to begin with. However, I feel that I should be able to type the full URL without incident. Also, it is sometimes necessary when I wish to visit an 'https' site.
