User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 Build ID: 20110928134238 Steps to reproduce: An excel sheet (MS Office 2003) was attached to an open email in Thunderbird (7.01) - before sending this attachment was opened from thunderbird email (attached file), was displayed properly and a typo was corrected inside the excel sheet. When closing the sheet it was saved. I now had the updated excel sheet in my thunderbird open email. Actual results: When pulling and dragging this updated file into a microsoft folder it turned out that the file was corrupted and more or less empty. This problem can be duplicated again and again showing the same mistake. The file was completely corrupted. Expected results: File should have been saved without any problem.

I opened the file from Office (Excel) inside the Thunderbird email, did change teh file and save it using excel. Th enow embedded file (in thunderbird email) was corrupted. The same procedure repated in Outlook 2003 did not cause any problems
