From Bugzilla Helper: The list of files used by Mozilla on the Windows platform listed in the Release Notes is obsolete for already many releases. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. http://www.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla0.8/#uninstall The registry is registry.dat instead of mozregistry.dat. It is not stored in the %WINDIR% directory but in the "Application Data\Mozilla" (name is locale dependent) in the Windows profile of the user. The mozilla users profiles registry are stored in the Users50 subdirectory. This description may not be accurate and is surely not exhaustive.

This "documentation bug" is still relevant for Mozilla 0.9.4. I'm using Mozilla 0.9.4 installed 2 weeks ago (Sep 26, 2001) on Windows NT 4.0 SP6a. I have a "%USERPROFILE%\Données d'applications\Mozilla\registry.dat" dated of today. However "%WINDIR%\mozregistry.dat" is dated of Feb 4, 2001. It seems that it is outdated (probably created by an older Mozilla). %WINDIR%\mozver.dat and %WINDIR%\MozillaUninstall.exe are dated of the latest installadion date (Sep 26, 2001). All this to say that "mozregistry.dat" in the Release notes of 0.9.4 is still probably irrelevant. The fix is to remove this file from the list at http://www.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla0.9.4/#uninstall .

This documentation bug doesn't seem to be interesting anyone beside myself. However, the 0.9.7 Release Notes have still the same errors as 9 months ago...

jatin, can you take this? i've changed mozregistry.dat to registry.dat and added a a mac osx section to uninstall. Someone on windows should double check the location of all these files.

I'll check the Windows files myself, or ask around to find out. I'll update that section and check in. Any deadline for when this should be in?

OK. I verified it has been mostly corrected for Mozilla 1.0. However information is missing about %SystemRoot%\mozver.dat and %SystemRoot%\MozillaUninstall.exe (Windows platform) I also suggest to better split information about files : - "system"-based files (in %SystemRoot% and %ProgramFiles%) - "system user"-based files such as registry.dat (in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Mozilla) - "Mozilla profile"-based files and directories (in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Mozilla\[Profile name]\[random string].slt) This information is important for system administrators that want to deploy Mozilla on a large scale.

Closing the bug as Release Notes for Mozilla 1.0 RC2 are ok for me.
