Virgil, could you check if this is a dupe? It sounds like it could be a dupe of an existing bug found in previous MU test runs.

I've searched before reporting and searched again today, but couldn't find anything related. There were some reports in the Manual update test run from 3.6 to 4 on windows, but no bugs were linked in the spreadsheet. While on linux, the result was Pass for this test.

Will try to manual update from other Firefox versions and search on other OSs later in the day.

Can't seem to reproduce every time now, but occurred when attempting to update a Nightly with a downloaded file from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/

Didn't occur for any other files (tried with popular downloadable installers (Acrobat, Winamp))
