699523 - New Gmail - UX generally choppier in Firefox

Various parts of Gmail animate noticeably slower in FF than in Chrome.

* There is still a noticeable pause/skip when you start scrolling from the top of a message thread or the top of the inbox mail listing. 

Easiest way to reproduce this is to start at the top of a long message thread, click the scrollbar and quickly scroll to a point near the bottom of the message thread. Instead of scrolling to the target area, the scrollbar appears to warp due to the delay of the top section of Gmail going from fixed to not fixed.

* Resizing the Inbox/Chat view on the left using the separator between these two elements is extremely choppy.

* Hovering over the Inbox view (expands the inbox view to full size) on the left is choppy.

This is caused by the scrollable area suddenly becoming active and forcing us to rerender most of the window. This can be fixed by adjusting our heuristics for scrollframe activity tracking, and/or by speeding up our painting in general. Probably bug 696248 comment #5 is still relevant here.

That's strange, needs to be investigated. It shouldn't be bad.
