This bug will stay open indefinitely to track the nomination, approval, and GPG public keys for anyone (outside of Release Engineering team members) who get to have access to the Android Market login info. The login info will be kept in a GPG encrypted file here: https://intranet.mozilla.org/AndroidMarket#How_to_Access and the process for getting access will work like this:
1. If you are a manager or director, post to this bug requesting access otherwise have your manager/director post to this bug nominating you for access with a short explanation as to why you need to access the Android Market directly
2. The Director of Release Engineering will approve or deny your request for access in this bug (you might be asked to participate in a training session prior to getting approval)
3. Once your request has been approved attach your public GPG key to this bug (instructions: https://intranet.mozilla.org/AndroidMarket)
4. Your key will be included in the list of keys when encrypting the login info file and it will be available on the intranet wiki for you to download, decrypt, and access the Market. This password will change frequently which is why we will use GPG keys to encrypt and then make the file available on the wiki - it means you can get the newest information as long as you have provided a correct public key without having to ask a person.
If your job responsibilities change and you no longer need to access the Market, please comment in this bug to be removed from the list of approved persons.

I would like to put my name on the request list for access to the Android Market.
Reasons:
-Need download metrics and device stats for the Firefox for Mobile Weekly Report
-Copy and description updates
-Screenshot updates
CC'ing Patrick Finch for manager approval

I approve: I do not know if we need to change the Android marketplace content update process (we certainly can take more on directly if it is helpful), but we do certainly want to mine more data from the marketplace on devices and ratings.

I would love for this access process to be able to allow for people outside of Release Engineering to update copy for the products we carry in the market and that is a huge driving force behind getting this password policy in place.

That's great, I am very keen we support this: I didn't want it to become an issue of contention in the way of Jaclyn gaining better capability to report on performance in market.

Jaclyn, before we can grant you access I'll need to make a time to sit down with you and go over the market UI to point out things to watch out for, stay away from, and to walk you through setting yourself up to encrypt/decrypt the gpg-encrypted file that the information will be stored in. I'll discuss time/place offline with you and will make a note in this bug once we've completed that and then you can be approved for access by a Releng manager/director.

Irina can you ask your manager to vouch for your need to access the market in this bug please? Once we have that I can make a time to train you (tomorrow in SF office works for me), then a RelEng manager can approve your access and we're set.

I'm not sure what your role is or who your manager is and you haven't used a mozilla email address in your bugmail, so can you read over comment 0 and have your manager make a case for why you need access to this information? It's not as simple as only allowing the view of downloads, access to the store is intentionally kept to a very limited set of people and perhaps you might be able to get the information you need in a weekly report from Jaclyn or Michelle.

Hello,
I will need access to the Android Market. Along with SUMO I am going to utilize the review data with the aim of surfacing the major issues users have with android devices. To do so I will need to understand what data is available, and how I might be able to get said data from the Android Market.
No action required yet - I've cc'd Gilbert Fitzgerald, director of analytics, to vouch for me - he will chime in shortly.
Comment 39•14 years ago

approved for analytics access to this data.
Hamilton is building an approach to automating a sentiment analysis for reviews in volume.

Hi--
I just started at Mozilla, and will be taking Jaclyn's spot after she movies to New York. I will need access to Android Market stats for the following reasons:
-To gather data regarding growth, usage, and (in the future) campaign tracking for Weekly Reports / KPIs
-To update marketing copy and/or screenshots
Dave Slater can vouch for me. I will send him an email.
Thanks

Hi Sam - please do get Dave to vouch in here for you and then I'll arrange a time for training with you and Hamilton early next week. What office are you working out of?
Comment 43•14 years ago
|

Thanks Lukas. I sent Dave an email. Hopefully he'll respond soon. I'm working out of SF, but I'll be in MV this Thursday (I think).

Hi there,
Yes, please set Sam up. If my schedule allows, please invite me too..good to have some redundancy on our marketing team.
Note Jaclyn Fu's last day is Friday, so if you need the slots you can remove her access as of next Monday.
Thanks!

Please grant me access as the product lead for Fx for Android. I need access to these stats please. Jay fully endorses me having access. Thanks!
BTW, are there any instructions specific for the PC for generating the public key, or should I try to hobble through the Mac ones on my PC?
Comment 65•13 years ago
|
||
Creating such keys is much easier on Linux/Mac OS X. If you want to do this on Windows you'll need http://gpg4win.org and https://mana.mozilla.org/wiki/display/SECURITY/GnuPG%2C+GPG%2C+OpenPGP%2C+PGP

Hello,
I recently started at Mozilla managing social channels and am hoping to track Android Facebook and Twitter advertising conversion rates. I'd like access to the Google Play stats for this. I've chatted with Sam, and he will be working with me and teaching me how to use the site. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best,
Michaela

Sorry for the delayed reply, Michaela should make sure her Google Enterprise account is set up and then please drop me an email so I can go ahead with flipping the pref on her account and inviting her to the store.

Thanks so much. Can you give me instructions on how to set up a Google Enterprise account?
Comment 72•13 years ago

Can you please add google-analytics@mozilla.com as an admin of the Google Play store? We will use this to link the Google Play Store and our Google Analytics enterprise account. google-analytics@mozilla.com is part of the enterprise Google account.

Hello,
Jesse Montano, a product marketing consultant, will be filling in while Sam remains out on personal leave. It would be great to get him access to the dev console. Jesse and his agency, Nobox, do a lot of work for the Engagement org.
His mozilla email is jmontano@mozilla.com
Thanks!
