An alpha version that has been deployed (and demoed!) is in the feature/sync branch. Would be nice if we could merge it into develop and add subsequent fixes directly or in small branches.

My r+ pending resolution of the postmessage issue I commented on in the pull request.  I reviewed the jetpack/lib and gave site/ and sync/ code a cursory glance, but I am not familiar enough with that code to properly review it.  I added bug 704392 for the login panel issue, which can be dealt with post-merge but if it were my choice, would be a release blocker.
