Details

(Keywords: regression)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:10.0a2) Gecko/20111109 Firefox/10.0a2
Build ID: 20111109042032

Steps to reproduce:

I selected a piece of text, right-clicked it, and selected "Search <search engine> for "(...)"".

Actual results:

Firefox opened a new tab with the search as expected, but focused on it.

Expected results:

Firefox should not have focused on the new tab, just like it was earlier. It's especially annoying when I want to search for multiple phrases or when I prefer reading the whole page before looking at the search results, which happens most of the time.

This was changed intentionally in bug 695482.
Like I previously mentioned, when I search I usually prefer to finish reading the page I'm on, and only then proceed to the results, so this new behavior change is, in my opinion, very annoying.

As stated in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=695482#c5, there should be a preference created for this situation (or at least an about:config setting).
I can reproduce the issue mentioned by Gustavo, but I'm marking this as WFM, based on comment 1.
